Hello everyone! I am sure you have been wondering what I have been up to since I released my big news 2 months ago. Let me just say this, I am completely blown away by all of the love, support, and encouragement that I have received. Thank you to all of my biggest fans and of course, ALL of my clients. While creating this crazy idea and branding myself, I never seriously considered blogging about my journey, even though I am the definition of social. Buuut, that all changed about a week ago..
Every person has a story: where they came from; what they enjoyed as a child; who their biggest idol was, etc. After attending college for 4 years at Ole Miss and receiving a degree in Elementary Education, I was still unsure of what it was that I wanted to do. All I knew is that I did not want to be a teacher. So... the million dollar question was: Now what? After a glass of champagne and a healthy dose of nostalgia, I came across photos that I hadn’t seen in quite some time. Boy, let me tell you, it was apparent I was supposed to find those pictures at that given moment.
Okay. HERE IT IS. I'll give you a second to take in the fact that a 5 year old girl requested not only a Barbie cake (because who didn't want one), but that it had to be a BRIDE . Innocent enough, right? Well, the following birthday, I requested a 3 TIER WEDDING CAKE!! I mean, who at age 6 even knows what a wedding cake is, much less a 3 tier cake? Well, to answer that question for you, I, Katie Lipscomb, did. Let's be real, is anyone really surprised? This was something that I was destined to be from smock dresses and big hair bows.
Seeing these photos brought me back to Dallas when I would light up at the sight of a new bridal magazine, gifted to me by one of my biggest role models in life, Jackie. Jackie will tell you, to this day, that I have always been mesmerized by all things event related; floral, cakes, bridesmaids dresses, venue, logistics.
You name it, I've dreamed about it. Jackie once told me, “Your favorite thing was to tell me how tacky specific details looked together,” as I sat in a booster seat flipping through the pages as if I had any say so whatsoever. “It was just crazy to see such a young child know so much about the small stuff,” the words of my other biggest cheerleader, my mom. You will see me refer to her as Sam. She will also tell you that I was always concerned with the seating orientation. Who was sitting where; why they were placed next to so and so; and, most importantly, what the centerpiece was going to be. All normal things to be worried about as a 6 year old, right?
I giggle every time I send these photos to someone new, not the least bit of what they say. The feedback I have received goes a little something like this: “Katie this is so you.” “I expect nothing less.” Or, my personal favorite, “Katie, you were born for this chaos.” I am so thankful that the good Lord above has opened this door for me. He has foreshadowed previous things in my life and continues to guide me through my passion, allowing me to follow my dreams . To my friends, family, new and soon to be clients, thank you for believing in me! Please continue to follow along on my journey.
I promise you, the fun is only beginning...
Okay, back to planning I go!
